How to Look More 'masculine'? (FTM/transgender)?

Im currently a female i was born female but i want to start going ftm (female to male) transgender.

Ive felt this way for a very long time since early teenhood so Im deciding I should start you know doing something about it…i cant really afford surgery or hormone therapy right now tho.

Ive been doing chest binding to hide my breasts but theyre never completely flat but really thats all I can think to do nothing I do makes me look completely masculine especially considering I like my hair long (lots of dudes do it ‘specially on the metal scene).

I look pretty feminine with my small jaw/huge eyes and all so has anyone got any suggestions that would help me w/ this?…steroids not an option lol…thanks.

…and maybe for later does anybody know of any good FTM programs like I see a lot of forums and info sharing stuff for MTF (male to female) transgenders but havent found any for FTM..?
woops sorry this is a double post so if you already answered dont do it again…

    Hello!

Below are some of the things that you can change to help with passing.

Hair: I’ve tried a lot of different cuts and I’ve found that any cut on a feminine face will still look feminine(it’s depressing i know). However, one thing that works is if you cut it really really short, like the buzz cut. *Most people can’t seem to link buzz cuts to woman and that’s why it works better than some of the other style cuts. The important thing to do is to pay attention to the details of a masculine cut. One good way is to cut your hair really really short and make sure the sideburns are cut even and straight. Feminine sideburns tends to be left along while masculine sideburns are buzzed evenly. Make sure all the edges are clean and defined.

Body: Binding your chest is really important for passing. Look into a chest binder for this. There is a a lot of choices at Love Boat http://www.lesloveboat.com/shop . After you get your chest bound, working out helps a lot. Masculine bodies tends to have more muscle tone and a bigger upper body while feminine bodies are more hourglass shape. You can try working on your shoulders, chest and your upper back.

Clothing: Depending on the size of your chest, find clothes that doesn’t bring too much attention to your chest. One thing about having a born female body is the hips, women has wider hips than guys does; thus making our waistline more distinct and visible. Guys, on the other hand, rarely have waistlines. For the top, I’ve found that men’s button up shirts helps(get larger sizes) because it falls down loosely, making your waist look even as your hip. For the bottom, you don’t have to wear extremely baggy pants (unless it’s the style you prefer), simply wear mens’ pants that have a boot cut or a straight cut. Somethings that helps a lot is men’s accessories, get some men’s accessories such as men’s bracelets or watch. Men tends to not like wearing rings, unless it’s a marriage band or a promise ring. Good places to shop for clothes are The Gap, H&M, Express Men, etc.

Mannerism: this is something that’s the hardest to do. All I would suggest is to be yourself, if you already feel male inside then just act how you would feel comfortable. Also, use men’s shampoo, soap, facewash, deodorants. Feminine/regular bath items smells more flowerly while men’s are more peppermint.

Hope that’s enough info to help you get started.

    Good Luck~

Wearing baggy clothes could help make it so that your breasts aren’t noticeable while you are binding. Talking and walking more like a boy would definitely help too.

I can’t think of anything else to help make you look more masculine, though. >.<

Hey, I’m kind of in the same boat, except I do have access to steroids and they’ve really changed my face shape and enabled me to build up more muscle & redevelop my sihouette to a degree, I’m still not 100% satisfied and I have to lift 3 x harder than the bron guys to get anywhere, but hell I do!! I don’t have the balls (erm, lol!) to go to my doc and start upsetting my family saying I want the change though, so just doing the androgynous thing for now, I’ve even kept my female name as it’s how people know me. But back to you. First off, you need to develop your upper body as much as possible. Focus on the shoulders, back, chest, serratus and obliques, as you need to make yourself as big as possible down to and including the waist to offset the female pelvis. By getting your bodyfat low (row or swim and do lots of weights) your breasts should shrink, mine were never big anyhow, as it is now I look like a male down to my waist, if you saw my top half naked you’d assume I was a guy with moobs from steroid abuse.

My bottom half is a MUCH bigger problem and also the walk. I’ve no idea how to stop my ginormous hips swinging and I hate it!! Any ideas would be much appreciated. I’m also contemplating liposuction for my hips, thighs and buttocks. I think this would be beneficial as when my fat cells were formed I was a pubescent female, with a female hormone profile and they developed in the feminine places (hips, thighs, butt). I’d be very interested to see how, with a male hormonal profile (well a shitload of steroids, none of which aromaize to estrogen) my body would store fat if the fat cell number was reduced in those places – not that I’d plan to get fat afterwards lol!
